Welfare - A Brief History.
The United States’ welfare system mainly refers to the federal government welfare programs designed to help those who don’t work or those who work too few hours to make it financially. Diverse programs offer debt help. These government programs include Medicaid, the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program, and Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), among others. Other debt relief programs offer debt help for debt settlements and credit counseling. The $200 Walmart pre paid grocery voucher allows people needing debt help to not only possibly eliminate their gas and grocery bills but also make extra money when qualified.
The United States’ welfare system goes back to the time of the 1700s. Colonies adopted the principles of the Britain’s Poor Laws, which differentiated between those who could not work and those who were able to work but could not find work. Those who could not work received federal government aid in the form of cash or another form of help. The other group, the ones who could work but could not find it, received opportunities to work in public work houses. These days, people that want to be debt free now look toward debt settlement for debt relief and credit counseling. Indeed, programs with the Walmart $200 prepaid gas and grocery voucher allow people of all income levels to potential eliminate their grocery bill and cover the high cost of gas month after month after month.
In the 1800s, welfare programs continued to grow and expand in order to assist people in need of debt help by relocating them for jobs. Some people were trained in work ethics and special skills by caseworkers in the latter part of that century. Another debt relief program, the Civil War Pension Program of 1862, extended debt help to the veterans of the Civil War and their immediate families.
At the beginning of the 20th century, especially when the Great Depression affected millions, about 25 percent of the population found themselves unemployed. A lot of people did not have money to survive. The government decided to take action. The modern welfare system took shape. These days, anyone can get a $200 prepaid grocery voucher and once qualified, use it at Walmart just like a debit card.
President Roosevelt brought about the Social Security Act of 1935 to create debt relief programs to help people that want to be debt free of different needs. Two programs, the Unemployment Compensation one and AFDC (originally Aid to Dependent Children. Also see, Domestic violence), can be seen in operation even now. A few other programs that stemmed from President Roosevelt’s vision are the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Department of Labor, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Education. Other private programs for debt relief, debt settlement, debt consolidation and credit counseling emrged in the private sector. One of the most successful programs is the $200 Walmart prepaid grocery voucher. Once qualified holders can use this just like a debt card, month after month after month for free gas and groceries among other things.
About 60 years later, in 1996, President Clinton brought to the forefront the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act, which provides funding to individual states to help the financially strapped which includes those in need of debt relief. States must adhere to specific guidelines, like the encouragement of those on welfare to return to work. State-run programs have been successful, for the most part. But there is no substitute for debt relief programs and credit counseling. As mentioned before, the prepaid grocery voucher is the most successful. This allows people, no matter what income level, once qualified to keep getting a $200 Walmart debit card PLUS $300 cash.
